The history of District 69 is very important to us.
On 1 July 1971, the Toastmaster Council of Australia was re-aligned to become District 69, with 24 clubs, covering the top half of Australia above the 30 parallel (Grafton), and District 70 with 45 clubs, covering the rest of Australia. District 69 with less than 35 clubs was given “Provisional” status. Changes to the Districts’ boundaries have been made since.
In 1976, the first Historian Ted Burton was appointed, and most subsequent years had historians which has enabled all of these records to be kept intact. Particular mention must go to Clare Murphy who was the District Historian for 14 years and Barrie Fuller for 8 years.
Great care has been taken to ensure these records are correct, however any notification of errors or omissions would be welcomed so that the records can be corrected.
